What to see in La Faute-sur-Mer

A seaside resort par excellence, La Faute-sur-Mer’ s coastline is made up of 8 km of dunes and pine forests. Divided into different sandy beaches, each bearing a specific name and offering a different activity, the panoramas are as varied as the moments shared with family and friends.
The picturesque little port of La Faute-sur-Mer, with its channel at the mouth of the river Lay, is the starting point for memorable sea excursions. Developed as a dune belt surrounded by water, the shoreline converges on a fine sandy outcrop facing the Ile de Ré: the Pointe d’Arçay, a listed and protected natural hunting reserve.
Things to do in La Faute-sur-Mer

Windsurfing, sand yachting, surfing, or simply protected hiking in the shade of the lush vegetation or sunbathing, there are plenty of choices to make your day.
Accessible via marked paths and trails running alongside a pine forest, this peninsula is sandwiched between the ocean and the Lay, and offers marvellous vistas. Whether early in the morning for seabird watching or later in the day for magnificent sunsets flooding the Ile de Ré, this stretch of sand is an incomparable landscape spot.
The town center, meanwhile, offers local shops brimming with local produce, and a local market on the Place de la Mairie is open on Thursdays and Sundays.
